Additional capacity and $10 round-trip tickets available for travel to Salem Wednesday evening
BOSTON – October 30, 2018 – Keolis Commuter Services, the MBTA’s operating partner for commuter rail, today announced that special $10 round-trip fares are available at Boston’s North Station to provide a convenient and affordable travel option for Halloween enthusiasts.
The Newburyport/Rockport line will run a regular weekday schedule on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31. In addition to increased ridership for Halloween, large crowds are expected to travel in and out of Boston during the day Wednesday for the Red Sox World Series parade. Commuter rail will provide additional capacity for the parade and on the Newburyport/Rockport line into the evening for Halloween festivities in Salem. Passengers should add extra time into their travel plans and expect queuing at North Station.
The special Halloween fares are available on October 31 only. For $10, this ticket includes round trip service to Salem. Round trip interzone tickets are $5 onboard trains and via the MBTA mobile ticket van that will be located at Beverly Station.
Due to road closures, access into the Salem MBTA parking garage will be restricted starting at 6 p.m. on Halloween and vehicles will not be able to exit the garage from 7 p.m. until midnight. Bikes will not be permitted on commuter rail trains Wednesday.
Passengers are encouraged to enjoy their Halloweens safely and responsibly while being courteous to fellow commuter rail passengers. A full list of events in Salem can be found at www.hauntedhappenings.com.
