Keolis, MBTA Announce Extra Service, Special Fares for Halloween Activities North of Boston

For two weekends additional trains will help accommodate Salem’s anticipated half million visitors

BOSTON – October 18, 2017 – Keolis Commuter Services (KCS), the MBTA’s partner that operates the commuter rail, has announced a schedule of extra trains to Salem’s famous Haunted Happenings festival. Coinciding with the height of activities, seven extra round trip trains will run each Saturday and Sunday October 21-22 and 28-29.

The Newburyport/Rockport line will run on its regular weekday schedule on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31. Heavy ridership is expected during the day and throughout the evening. Customers should plan their travel accordingly.

Special event fares are available on Halloween only. This includes $10 round trip tickets from North Station to Salem and round trip interzone tickets for $5 onboard trains and from the mobile ticket van at Beverly Station. Special event mTickets are not available on Halloween night.

Access to the Salem parking garage will be restricted 6 p.m. on Halloween. Access out of the Salem parking garage will be restricted from 8 a.m. until festivities are over.

Passengers are encouraged to enjoy their Halloweens safely and responsibly while being courteous to fellow commuter rail travelers. A full schedule may be found here.
