Unlimited Framingham/Worcester travel with All-day Marathon Pass made available for second year
BOSTON – April 12, 2018 – Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the MBTA’s operating partner for commuter rail, will provide marathon fans with a convenient ticketing option to view the Boston Marathon at multiple points along the course. A $20 ticket will allow all-day, on and off travel along the Framingham/Worcester Line of the Commuter Rail. Spectators can watch runners pass them in Ashland, cheer again in Wellesley and then congratulate them at the finish line in Boston all with the same ticket that has been designed to also act as a commemorative keepsake.
This is the second year the MBTA Commuter Rail will provide commemorative tickets for Marathon Monday and is the result of collaboration with Keolis, the MBTA and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The commuter rail will also operate additional trains throughout the day (schedule below) in order to accommodate fans.
“It is estimated 1 million spectators will line the course from Hopkinton to the finish line in Copley Square,” said Dave Walker, Director Marketing, Keolis. “For fans hoping to see their friends and family run the race, the hop-on, hop-off scheduled trains ticket is a convenient option we’re pleased to provide for the second year.”
In 2017, approximately 1,000 commemorative marathon tickets were sold. These are available for purchase now at MBTA ticket windows and on the mTicket app.On Marathon Monday these will be available for purchase on-board Framingham/Worcester Line trains.. These commemorative tickets will not be available at MBTA fare vending machines.
This ticket option allows riders to travel up and down the marathon route and back home for one flat rate. It is only valid on the Worcester Commuter Rail Line on Patriots Day, April 16.
Two additional trains will run on the Worcester Line to serve marathon spectators at the times indicated below.
