MBTA Red Line Customers Impacted by Incident Have Commuter Rail Option

Kingston, Middleboro and Greenbush Commuter Rail Trains to Operate Modified Service Through Today

BOSTON – February 21, 2018 – Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the MBTA’s commuter rail operating partner, announced today that the Kingston/Plymouth, Middleboro and Greenbush lines will make additional stops at Red Line stations to accommodate passengers impacted by the Red Line disruption.

The following modifications will be in place on commuter rail for the remainder of the day:

  • All inbound and outbound Kingston and Middleboro line trains will stop at JFK/UMass, Quincy Center and Braintree
  • All inbound and outbound Greenbush line trains will stop at JFK/UMass and Quincy Center. Note: Greenbush line trains will not stop at Braintree as it is on a different route.

 Charlie Card tickets will be accepted on commuter rail trains at South Station, JFK/UMass, Quincy Center and Braintree.

The MBTA will have station attendants at all impacted locations, and Keolis will deploy passenger assistants to help at South Station. Conductors on board these trains will also make announcements about the additional stops.
